Airspeed Indicator Sticking

Post by PharmDPilot »

Recently my airspeed indicator seems to be "sticking". I don't think it is a clog in the pitot static system. On takeoff it reads 0 until about 40 or 50 kts at which point it jumps to the 40 - 50kts indication. From that point it seems to operate correctly. Any thoughts?

It's very likely that you have a "blow through" obstruction that takes considerable pressure to overcome. These are often cause by. insects and spiders making themselves at home in your system. Have your local pitot-static system specialist investigate. It shouldn't be difficult to have your ASI serviced in any case.
