Injector

Anyone know where you can get an injector cleaned and tested?

Thanks. John

John,

There are numerous posts on the subject within these forums. You'll need an ultrasonic bath, an injector coil with a 4.5V DC power supply, and some Hoppes #9 solvent.

I was once told that Aircraft Accessories in Oklahoma could do this work, but I never contacted them myself. It is unlikely that you'll find a FAA Repair Station or independent with the proper coil on hand with which to do this. I had two of them, but they both went with my airplane when I sold it. Every XL-2 includes four of them, but I would not suggest messing with the low voltage harness to get there.

Good luck!

Pull the injector apart and soaked it in Hoppers #9
Put I back together, it’s now working fine.

Thanks. John.

That's great to hear, and a bit surprising. Generally cleaning these injectors without cycling them open and closed doesn't work. Hopefully others can have similar fortune in the future.

Use players to pull the internal parts out, there are three parts inside a spring, a spring retainer and plunger. Be careful not to damage the end, it requires some effort, what do you have to lose. It saved me from having to buy a new one.

I know where there are four of them that were tagged unserviceable because they couldn't be cleaned in Indonesia. (They're in Georgia now.) Perhaps the owner will see this post and contact you. It would be nice to have them available as spares to this group.
