Tail Plane Attachment Lug(135A-30-615)

Post by godryu »

I'd like to purchase Tail Plane Attachment Lug(135A-30-615).
The certificate must be included.

I'm looking for someone who can sell it.

I am also looking for these parts. I have a shop that could likely produce them but I don't have the drawing.

The parts are very, very simple. There are a few folks here who got some spares just before DIscovery was shuttered. (My spares went with my airplane when I sold it.) Perhaps one of those people will allow a CAD/CAM engineer to draw them up for you, with an original (spare) part for reference. Alternatively, one could probably draw them up from a used part so long as the reference parts are not bent or otherwise damaged.

If someone sends me a part, I can draw it up but I won't manufacture the parts as I don't own a Liberty any longer. (Any competent machinist can make them from a drawing for you.) Unfortunately, Done this way, there would be no yellow tag. Certificates are required for Part 91 only if you are operating for hire as I understand it. This may not solve the problem for Godryu, as he is apparently operating under Korean regulations.

Incidentally, I would suggest doing the nose lock pin at the same time, as both the tail plane attachment lug and the nose lock pin are 500 hour parts.

Good luck.

Gimpy,

Thank you for your offer, I was not precise. I can create a drawing but I don't know what material is used and if the part has to be thermally treated. It looks like the lugs are corrosion treated.

Thank you,

Raphael,

Have you spoken to Joe Turnbach or Rob Spivey? Both are former Liberty A&P I/As. I wouldn't be surprised if they have access to the specs you're looking for. One or both of them might be willing to share now that Discovery has been shuttered.

In the absence of data, I'd talk to an aircraft fabricator about appropriate materials for both, and go from there for the structural loads and go from there.

Yes, that’s right.
We are operating an aircraft in Korea.
Only parts with normal certificates are available in Korea.

We have five XL-2s, and they operate 400 to 600 hours a year.

Most of the parts we had in advance are disappearing.

It's a very bad situation.

I know Rob, he has helped me a lot. He would be able to make parts if he had the specs. According to him, all documents and parts are still locked up by the Melbourne airport authority.

I too need these parts. I'm trying to do the research now but if I'm not allowed to overfly this inspection, my airplane is a yard ornament in 2.4 more hours. I've been in contact with Jason Russell, the president of Discovery, hoping these parts would come available in the coming weeks but I keep hearing 2 weeks and then 2 weeks later, it's 2 weeks. I'm thankful for the open dialogue I have with him but I can't wait another 2 weeks at this point.

Bump. My airplane is rotting. Does anyone know how to get hands on this part?
