Has anyone used avionics shops as opposed to the factory to update avionics such as garmin sl30 and auto pilot.

Currently looking at purchasing an xl2 may have some questions in the next few days.What is realistic cruise and fuel burn.Also how does the aircraft feel compared to a 172.Thanks Ron
